Preparing our alpaca fiber for felting soap: Carding

Look how beautiful this fiber is as we're preparing it for felting soap. The fiber in these photos is from one of our farm customers and has been carded. Carding cleans and untangles the fibers, turning the fiber into a nice, smooth, continuous piece. Next time you visit us, compare these picture with what you see on the alpacas. What a difference!

We had a super shearing day this year at Pacabella Farm Alpacas and Boutique! Altogether, David Willis of Iron Heart shearing clipped 13 alpacas, including one pregnant alpaca, two young alpacas who'd never been sheared and two from another farm.
